I covered the box with The Night Before Christmas poem sign from Kirlands. It was crying out partially because the electrician decided to put the electrical box here and made it lower on the wall than I would have liked. However, there is a small area between the wall and the French doors that was just crying out for some farmhouse Christmas decor. The door pretty much opens right to the table. The barn entryway is an interesting spot. It will look just as sweet in the spring with some plants hanging off it too.

It works well for hanging my ice skates and helps balance out the white space next to the tree without being too much. But I love how it looks as a dГ©cor piece. ItвЂ™s not sturdy enough to hold anything other than dГ©cor items. ItвЂ™s actually not really a ladder at all вЂ“ even though they call it that. The ladder is an Amazon find that I adore. I doubled back to pick up this sweet addition. In a little red in a sea of farmhouse white makes would make a happy statement. It was in one of my favorite local shops called Blue Door GR and literally walking out when I spotted this out of the corner of my eye. I added a vintage step stool that has been painted red to add a touch of color. So, I was thrilled in finding this and felt even better that I was supporting a local small shop. However, developing pneumonia just after Thanksgiving, that put all my magical holiday creation plans on hold. One of my favorite things about this little tree was the wooden garland that I found at a local shop here in Grand Rapids called Rebel GR. I found some beautiful bells at Kirklands, Pier 1, World Market and Boxwood Avenue this year. The way they look, the little sounds and all the ItвЂ™s a Wonderful Life happy juju that goes with having bells around our home makes my soul feel happy. IвЂ™m having a bit of a love affair with bells this year. ThereвЂ™s a great article here on all the pros and cons of artificial versus real if you want to read it.ДЄs for the ornaments, I kept them mostly wood with a few touches of sparkles and bells. After doing some research into the subject, the experts seem to agree, cutting down real trees is better for the environment than the factory producing the artificial one. That said, this will probably be the last artificial tree I buy. I did go with an artificial tree from Balsam Hill because the idea cutting down a tree for my enjoyment breaks my heart just a bit. ThereвЂ™s something about those slightly-bare, not perfectly sculpted trees that tugs at my heart strings. HereвЂ™s a little glance at them all!ДЇor the barn Christmas tree, which is on the second story of the barndominium, I wanted it to feel a bit like a Charlie Brown tree. Going with more natural elements was a goal. My goal for decorating in the barn for the farmhouse Christmas decor was to keep it simple. While I didnвЂ™t go totally crazy decorating each space within the barndominium, I did some little spots that turned out beautiful.

I appreciate that more than words can say. You have all been such wonderful support as IвЂ™ve shared tidbits each day over on my stories at the Sugar Maple Farmhouse instragram. I decided to start with the barn since you all of you have followed us on the construction journey this year. We have some friends and family coming for New YearвЂ™s and just after and they requested that we leave the farmhouse Christmas decor up so they can see it.ДЄnd since itвЂ™s still up, thereвЂ™s an added benefit! I can show you all the spots in the house and in the barn that I didnвЂ™t get around to showcasing before the holiday craziness took over. And itвЂ™s so amazing how she utilized so many of the same decorations that sheвЂ™s always had (even when she decorated with more of a Transitional StyleВ in 2017 in her old house) and with the addition of just a few pieces it all looks so different! It just goes to show you that if you want to change your Christmas decoration style (or even the style of your home) you donвЂ™t necessarily need to start from scratch.While Christmas may be over, we are still knee deep in holiday spirit over here. I actually had to ask my mom what style sheвЂ™d like to call her Christmas decorations because in my eyes itвЂ™s Christmas perfection and matches perfectly with her new country home. But the good news is, itвЂ™s up now, and this Modern Farmhouse Christmas Decor will NEVER go out of style so you can be inspired by it now for small additions to your home this season, but SAVE it for years to come to be inspired (if you donвЂ™t follow my Holiday Style Pinterest Board you DEFINITELY should)! LetвЂ™s be serious I meant to put up this post weeks ago and I kinda gave a teaser to it last week with this Christmas IGTV (of my mom putting the lights on her tree), but as always there just arenвЂ™t enough hours in the days so I never got around to it.
